Bugatti Top Speeds

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ on Track

Bugatti builds some of the world’s fastest production sports cars — one of which, the Bugatti Chiron, is the fastest on record. Although these vehicles are always few in number with models like the Centodieci offering just 10 units, quality takes precedence over quantity every time; they leave a lasting impression with their speed and agility. You may be wondering, “What are the Bugatti top speeds, and if they’re all super-fast, what differentiates them from one another?” Learn more about the Bugatti Veyron, Divo, and Chiron top speeds below!

Veyron Top Speed

During its production, the Bugatti Veyron was offered in four configurations:

  • Veyron 16.4 (2005 to 2011)
  • Grand Sport (2009 to 2015)
  • Super Sport (2010 to 2011)
  • Grand Sport Vitesse (2012 to 2015)

The Veyron Super Sport (SS) was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s fastest street-legal production car with a top speed of 267 mph, however, that record was recently broken by the Chiron. The Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse was the world’s fastest roadster, averaging about 254 mph when it was tested in 2013.

Chiron Top Speed

Unlike the Veyron, the Bugatti Chiron is currently in production (2016 to present). There are three configurations:

  • Chiron Sport (2018 to present)
  • Ans Bugatti (2019 to present)
  • Super Sport 300+ (2021)

For some time, the Chiron struggled to beat the record set by the Veyron — never exceeding its top speed.

On August 2, 2019, however, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ prototype was tested at Volkswagen’s facility in Ehra-Lessien, Germany, and reached a top speed of 304.77 mph. TÃœV, Germany’s Technical Inspection Association, verified the Bugatti Chiron as the first production vehicle to break 300 mph. Other high-performance models like the Lamborghini Aventador barely scratch the surface of what the Chiron can accomplish.

Divo Top Speed

The Bugatti Divo is also currently in production (2018 to present) with 40 units planned altogether. It’s a mid-engine, all-wheel-drive sports car named after Albert Divo — a Bugatti racer from the 1920s who won the Targa Florio twice.

What makes the Divo unique from the Veyron and Chiron is its downforce; it produces 198 pounds more than the Chiron and zips around the Nardò test track eight seconds quicker. It also has a higher lateral acceleration, allowing it to whip around curves with ease.

The Divo favors agility over sheer power and reaches a top speed of 236 mph

Bugatti 0-60 Times

  • Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ 0-60 mph time: 2.4 seconds
  • Bugatti Chiron 0-60 mph time: 2.3 seconds
